Pumpkin Patch Update

Here is the latest pic of the pumpkin patch. It's grown by leaps and bounds since the last pic I've taken. I think the combination of the sun and rain we've had has been good for it. I don't know if you can tell in the pic, but we curled Sydney's hair today. We've been reading "The Little House in the Big Woods" by Laura Ingells Wilder. In the chapter we read today Laura got to take her first trip to town. So the night before they went Laura's mom tied her hair up so it would be curly the next day. Needless to say Sydney was curious about curly hair so we gave it a shot. The curling iron I have it pretty big so it didn't curl it like Shirley Temple, but gave it a little wave. Daddy thought it was cute so she was proud.

I remember wearing this type of romper back when I was young....I just had to put one on her. Matt was kinda confused by the flashback to the 80's, but it made me smile every time I looked at her!

Getting Ready for Kindergarten

Syd and I were going down the street. Her on her princess bike and me walking next to her. We started talking about going Kindergarten. She seemed a little nervous about it when I signed her up to ride the bus so I've been talking to her about it to hopefully get her warmed up to the idea. She's my girl that as long as she knows what she's getting into she's okay. So we've been talking a lot about it.

Here is our conversation:

Me: Are you getting excited to go to kindergarten?

Syd: Yes. I get to go everyday and I get to ride the bus and you're going to ride in the car behind the bus. (that was the deal when she started getting nervous about the bus)

Me: I can't believe it you are getting so big

Syd: I'm so excited (little giggle) and I can't wait to have kids.

Me: Do you mean meet new kids at school?

Syd : No I can't wait to have my own children.

That pretty much put me speechless. My baby is talking about having her own babies....and I was just worried about getting to Kindergarten!

Happy Father's Day!

I asked Sydney a couple weeks ago what she thought Daddy would like for Father's Day. I told her we had to come up with something we thought Daddy would like. She responded with, "He likes guns, we could get him a gun." Part of me thought he may have put her up to that, but it was so far in advance that I'm pretty sure he hadn't even thought about Father's Day. Anyway, she then said she didn't know what type he likes so we should probably make him some cupcakes cause "Daddy likes cupcakes."

As you can see from the pics the cupcakes won over the new gun this year. As a side note Syd and Matt were looking at gunbroker.com (a gun auction site for those who don't know) and Matt said that Sydney was saying "Do you like that one Dad?You can get it....you can, Dad. As if Matt needs any encouragement! :) Matt sure she's going to make one lucky man a great wife!

Summer Haircut

Saul finally got his haircut. It was getting pretty long and shaggy around his ears. We were in the mall today shopping for Daddy and I saw a sign walk-ins welcome. Saul was complaining (hard to believe, I know) about not being ready to leave yet so I took the opportunity. I told him just not to cut it too short on the top so his little head doesn't get sunburned and the guy just started buzzing away. He put gel in his hair...never thought my son would wear gel, but I guess I got lots to learn. :)

Yoga

Bet you couldn't guess that I've been doing yoga in the living room.

Flag Day Parade

We finally met with our friends, Anna, Phil, Lil, and Sidonia at the flag day parade. They live a block from the street the parade was going down so we parked by their house and walked down. The kids got crazy amount of candy. It almost got silly it was so much. Saul kept telling me. "Mom, if they throw more toward us I'll run and get it."

Anna and Phil made nose decorations out of "helicopters" for the kids while we waited for the parade to start. It was good to see Anna, Phil and family again. I ran out of battery on my camera so I only got one pic with the kids.

Smelting

The guys needed a little help in the smelting department so my sister-in-law, Kaisa and I decided to volunteer our services and help out. And we did good. We got a whole big cooler full of smelt. So, of course, we had to fry 'em up! The pastor and his wife love smelt too so they joined in the fun!

Pumpkin Patch Update

Here is a pic of the Van Horn Pumpkin Patch! We are starting out strong this year. It's hard to tell from the pics, but we have 3 sprouts on one mound and 3 on the other.

Oh I think we have green thumbs!

P.S This morning we only had one sprout...they are the "grow" today!

He's still got it after all these years~

I asked Matt if he would move the rope swing a little. It seemed a little close to another tree so for my nerves he obliged! He was so cute up there I couldn't stop taking pictures!

Froggy Dessert

We were inspired by the tadpoles we saw over at the state park. The kids' Big Backyard magazine was about frogs so we had to make these cute frog jellos! Syd and I surprised the boys with them after dinner!

Happy Easter!

Yes the Easter Bunny visits hotels!

These are pics of the water over the road in ND. Julie said her family tried to travel that part of the road later on that afternoon and they ended up closing it! eeekk

Over the river and through the woods

To Grandma's House we go! That was definitely good motivation to get back in the car!
