Berry Love

It appears that my container strawberries are making a move on my container blueberries. Every time I walk out my front door I smile, because it looks like the strawberries are trying to give the blueberries a hug :)

Father's Day

This year we celebrated Father's Day all weekend long. Matt slept in Saturday morning and when he got up the spoiling began. At the end of the weekend I asked him he felt totally spoiled and he said he did so I'd say Father's Day weekend was a success!

Saturday started off by opening his Father's Day present. Saul was really excited because it was the Cabela's hunting game that he got to play when he was at Papa's house. I was amazed Saul kept it a secret for as long as he did.

Then we started our adventure with a stop at Starbucks for a coffee - one of Matt's occasional indulgences. We told Matt we were taking him on a surprise road trip. Then Saul gave him a clue and told him at was on the box of the new game he got. The cute part was look on Saul's face when Matt guessed where we are going on the first try.

Sunday after church we headed up to Moreau Lake State Park. Me and the kids have all been up there and they really wanted to show Daddy how fun it was. Because it's a lake and not a pool there were minnows, snails, and even a leech. The kids were so excited to show me. I couldn't believe they were touching it even after Matt told them it sucks blood. YUCK! It was Father's Day though so if Matt and the kids wanted to play with a leech who was I to rain on their parade.

Sydney's Summer Cut

Sydney was finally fed up with her long hair and the snarls that come with it so we cut off her braid today. She decided she wanted to donate her braid to Locks of Love so a kid somewhere will be able to enjoy her braid as much as she did.

Here is the before picture -

She wanted one more picture with Daddy and her braid. Saul, of course, couldn't miss out on the fun -

Off it comes -

She got to get her fingernails painted while she waited for me to get my haircut. The gal even put a little white flower on her fingernail.

Conversation with Saul

Saul and I went to Animal Land yesterday with Sydney's Kindergarten class. We had a great time feeding the goats and other various animals they had there. Saul had a few wipe outs so I told him when we got home nurse Mom would clean up real good and we would put bandaids on his "boo boos". (Boo Boos is not my choice of words, but Sydney must have picked that up from school.) The kids know I was a nurse before I had Sydney, but Saul has always kinda thought that was weird. I think because he can't quite grasp what it means to be "before Sydney". I digress....

So we get home and Saul is near melt down stage. He's tired, hungry, and wounded. So I tell him to go lay on the couch and nurse Mommy will get the bandaids, etc... and fix him up. Well that was all he could handle. He looks at me with his sad eyes and says, " You are not nurse Mommy, you are just Mommy"

It's nice to know that just being "Mommy" is enough.

Love you little man!

A trip to CT

Here are some pics from our trip to CT this weekend. I didn't get a pic of the Cabela's that we stopped at TWICE! A highlight of Matt's trip for sure. He got some new gear for his trip to the boundary waters that he still doesn't have leave for.

Sydney LOVES s'mores. Can you tell?

Sydney and Alina. This is the only time Sydney held her. Saul held her multiple times during our stay and I didn't have any pics of him. Not sure why.

Happy Birthday, Sid. His birthday was on Memorial Day, but he had duty that day so we celebrated early. Double Bummer duty on a federal holiday and his birthday.

She just needed someone to cuddle her so I volunteered!
