Matt thought it would be funny to put Saul up on the car today to push all of the snow off. Sydney saw this and wanted to join in the fun. He put her up toward the back and when he did that it broke a big chunk of snow off and it slid right off the back of the car with Sydney on it. It was the funniest thing to watch. There was a foot of snow on the ground and all the snow she slid off so she didn't get hurt. Too funny! Of course they wanted to try it again so we got that on video.

Sydney
Since Sydney has been in 1st grade we haven't had as many photo ops as I'm used too. In the past week, however, I've managed to snap a few to show you what she's been up to .
Sydney and her BFF Haley - Sydney has been asking for Haley to come play babies with her for a couple of weeks now. We are on winter break this week so today was a great day for playing babies.

Sydney's 1st grade class after the "Tacky the Penguin" play - It was a cute play about being your own unique self. Sydney was a penquin named, Angel.

Cute little Angel penguin -

Sydney holding the first chapter book, "Vacation under a Volcano" she read cover to cover - it tells the story of Pompeii.

Dining Out
Matt's wardroom had a "dining out" this past Saturday. Like everything Navy there are lots of traditions that go along with this social event. One of the traditions is "parading the beef" They actually had a huge steak on a platter and put it on a rolling cart and walked it around the room to the vice president of the Mess. He took a bite of the steak to make sure it was "fit for consumption" Once he declared it "fit" they served the meal to us. Another tradition is fining any person that was breaking the rules of the "mess" This could be anything from breaking general etiquette rules to the most bizarre things to make sure everyone was fined at least once. It could be as crazy as you could think of and as long as the "president" agreed you would be fined. Fines ranged anywhere from telling a joke, juggling dolls, drinking from the grog, or paying a dollar. It just depended on how the "president" was feeling at the moment. Matt was actually fined for being bald and not completely "bic" shaving his head. His fine was wearing the "wig of shame" for the rest of the dinner. Of all the Navy traditions this was by far the funniest one I've participated in.
Here are some pics -

Snow Day # ....ummm I've lost count.
We've had quite a few snow days and school delays because of weather this year. IT'S WONDERFUL! The best part is the kids act like each one is the best ever. So here is a video from the last snow day. Matt's car is parked behind the kids, he's actually trying to shovel the driveway so he can get in. The kids are really clueless that they are making more work for Daddy.
