My Cinderella

Yesterday I was trying to get the house cleaned up and ready for our friends to come visit/stay with us for a week. I told Sydney it was time to clean up her toys in the living room so I could vacuum. She was giddy so she had a hard time staying on task. After a few friendly reminders to keep focused on the living room. She puts on the cutest pouty face and said, "I'm like Cinderella and you are like the bossy Mom." Needless to say I had a hard time keeping the smile from my face. I replied, "Don't worry, Syd someday your prince will come." She liked that...she couldn't keep the smile from her pouty face.

Fast forward to this evening. Sydney has been trying to earn money for her missions bank for school. I told her I would give her $0.50 if she swept up under the table after dinner. She was happy to do it. About 1 minute into sweeping she says,

"I'm jealous about something Mom said yesterday."

Me: "oh yeah, what did I say yesterday?"
Syd: "You said that someday my prince will come, but he never will."

Matt: " Oh Syd, God's got a great plan for you, sweetie."
Syd: "But I'll never be a princess."
Matt: "You never know."
Syd: " Yes I do, because Princes marry princesses and you have to born into that family and" (then she looked and pointed at me with a very serious face) "She's not a queen is she?"

It's hard for me to keep my composure and I don't want to just laugh at her because she is dead serious. That's where the conversation ended, because I could tell there was no winning with her.

The kids are getting really smart and it's getting harder and harder to keep one step ahead! :)
